The Dental Clinic is new. Kickapoo Nation Health Center provides primary out-patient medical, dental, outreach preventive, environmental health, pharmacy, substance abuse counseling, and contract health services. We contract with local mental health facilties for services. We have podiatry and endocrinology specialty clinics on a monthly basis. We have one permanent physician, one pharmacist, one registered nurse, one LPN. We have specialty clinics in podiatry and endocrinology. We plan to have a Womens Clinic, Mens Clinic, Well Child Clinic in the very near future. I am working in collaboration with Stormont-Vail Medical Center, Topeka, Kansas on these specialty clinics. Stormont-Baker University School of Nursing will be coming to KNHC beginning in January 2008 for internship experiences for their students who are seniors in the nursing program. The permanent physician has been at KNHC for approximately 16 months and a resident of the local community of Horton. He has clinical privileges at the local community hospital also. There is approximately 10 permanent employees at this health center. We are a small out-patient clinic with stability of health providers. The pharmacist has been with the Kickapoo Nation Health Center for six years and recently signed another contract to continue for another additional two years. The Clinic Nurse is a tribal member and worked for KNHC for approximately 7 years. The LPN has been at this clinic for 6 years. Our user population is approximately 927 in Brown and Jackson County of Kansas. The number of encounters from June 20, 2006 to July 31, 2007 was 11,368.
