Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC) is a vital healthcare facility serving the Navajo Nation and surrounding communities in northwest New Mexico. As one of the largest healthcare facilities within the Indian Health Service, GIMC provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services to meet the healthcare needs of the region. The facility supports approximately 250,000 outpatient encounters and 5,800 inpatient admissions annually, reflecting its role as a major regional healthcare center.
Located in Gallup, New Mexico, GIMC serves a diverse and vibrant community with a rich cultural heritage and strong connections to the surrounding region. With a population of approximately 23,000 residents, Gallup offers a unique combination of small-city living, cultural traditions, and access to the natural beauty of the Southwest.
The mesas, plateaus, and mountains surrounding Gallup provide year-round opportunities for outdoor recreation, including hiking, backpacking, camping, and exploring the scenic landscapes of northwest New Mexico. Several national parks, forests, monuments, and recreational areas are within easy driving distance, offering opportunities to experience the region’s remarkable natural beauty and cultural history.
Gallup is located approximately two hours west of Albuquerque, providing convenient access to additional shopping, dining, entertainment, and cultural resources available in a larger metropolitan area. Winter recreation opportunities, including cross-country and downhill skiing, are also available within a one- to three-hour drive.
