The Inscription House Health Center is part of the Kayenta Alternate Regional Hospital (KARH) Service Unit in the Westernmost part of the Navajo Nation. Inpatient needs are met by KARH. The Inscription House facility provides 36-hours per week ambulatory care for approximately 7,000 nearby residents. The facility is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the business week except for Wednesdays which are open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Many staff live in housing provided by the Indian Health Service.
The facility is staffed by physicians and nurse practitioners. Services provided can include pediatrics, internal medicine, family medicine ambulatory care, phlebotomy, DM, pharmacy, dental, mental health, health education, radiology, prenatal, physical therapy and optometry care. As is true for other Navajo Area Indian Healthcare facilities the leading reasons for outpatient visits include respiratory illness, preventive health activities, diabetes, well child exams and prenatal care.
Inscription House is approximately a one-hour drive from Page, Arizona, and the Lake Powell National Recreation Area. Additionally, Inscription House is a two-hour drive to Flagstaff, Arizona as well as the Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim). 40 minutes away is the Navajo National Park of the U.S. National Park Service.
