OCPHI works to to build strong partnerships within tribal communities, academia institutions, and through workforce development to create a healthier future for AI/AN communities.
Primary Services and Stakeholders
OCPHI serves multiple stakeholders across the IHS ecosystem:
- Clinical Providers: Support care delivery improvements and gap identification at the point of care
- Agency Leadership: Enable data-driven decision-making through standardized performance metrics
- Area and Service Unit Administrators: Facilitate performance assessment and benchmarking
- Chief Clinical Consultants and Councils: Partner on measure development and validation
- External Oversight Bodies: Respond to questions about quality of care delivered to AI/AN populations
- AI/AN Communities: Ultimately improving health outcomes through systematic quality assessment
- Healthcare Teams: Support continuing education and professional development of Indian Health Service, tribal, and urban (I/T/U) healthcare teams to make evidence-based decisions
OCPHI Overarching Strategic Priorities
- Implement validated frameworks for performance measurement and evaluation
- Establish standardized measurement systems aligned with the PHC Measurement Framework and Universal Health Coverage Compendium
- Enable performance comparisons with accepted benchmarks and internal targets across all lines of service delivery
- Build capacity for impact assessment of care on AI/AN population health outcomes
- Advance effective, accredited, team-based education for improved patient care
