Code Admission Type Description
1  Direct  Patient who of his own volition is seen in clinic and admitted to Inpatient Care at the same facility. Also includes all non-physician referrals, PHN, etc. 
2  Transfer Non-IHS  Transfer from a Non-IHS Inpatient facility to an IHS Inpatient Facility. 
3  Transfer IHS  Transfer from one IHS Inpatient Facility to an IHS Inpatient Facility. 
4  Referred  A patient who is seen as an Outpatient at any facility and then referred to an IHS Inpatient Facility at another location. 
5  Other  Any admission that does not fit the above categories.
