Department of Veteran's Affairs Bar Code Resource Office
IHS has partnered with the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA) to implement and support bar code scanning in Indian Country. We have primarily worked with the VA's Bar Code Resource Office (BCRO). BCRO is the VA's resource for bar code scanning information, research, improvements, manufacturer relations, and troubleshooting. Through an Inter-Agency agreement (IAA), IHS has received information, guidance, implementation assistance, training, troubleshooting, and more. Our initial goal was to implement BCMA version 3.42 "straight out of the box" and we have been very successful, thanks in large part to the efforts of the BCRO and VA Pharmacy Support personnel.
