California Youth Regional Treatment Centers
The California Area IHS operates two Youth Regional Treatment Centers (YRTC). Desert Sage Youth Wellness Center in Hemet, CA & Sacred Oaks Healing Center in Davis, CA. The YRTCs provide residential treatment for adolescents who are struggling with substance use and other co-occurring disorders. We provide care to those youth, ages 12-17, who have been unable to manage their conditions in outpatient care.
Our average length of stay is 120 days (4 months). Each youth’s care is designed around their specific needs. While in care, each youth is assigned a primary therapist, substance use counselor, and aftercare guide. Our team utilizes individual, group, and family therapy to assist the youth and their family in healing. We also partner with local Tribal members to ensure traditional and cultural beliefs are a part of their individual healing.
We have a licensed teacher on site who coordinates their educational needs. Through a partnership with Sherman Indian High School, each youth becomes a registered student there and upon completion of our program will receive an official transcript from Sherman Indian High School.
