Summary:

This lecture will focus on the clinical applications and techniques for placing complex amalgams. It will provide many clinical examples of preparations, resistance and retention features, matricing and a guide for developing good clinical anatomy in the final restorations. This lecture will also cover clinical applications for success in the placement of posterior composites. Advantages, clinical indications, proper material handling and placement techniques will be addressed.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

1. Apply multiple preparation designs for complex amalgams.
2. Know the alternative options for the placement of an indirect restoration.
3. Describe some of the recent developments in retention and resistance features and matricing for complex amalgam restorations.
4. Know the clinical situations that will work well for a posterior composite placement.
5. Describe some of the techniques and materials that will increase success after placement of these restorations.
6. Understand how these restorations fail and what the provider can do to prevent it from happening.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
