Summary:

This session will review the current evidence base for the quantity of physical activity required for weight loss. We will also review new information on total daily energy expenditure as the primary factor in weight loss, fat loss without weight loss, energy conservation and compensation, why do we get less than expected weight loss from exercise, and the impact of GLP-1 agonists plus exercise.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Evaluate the impact of total daily energy expenditure and sedentary time on weight loss.
2. Examine the weekly quantity of exercise with and without dietary restrictions required for weight loss.
3. Identify how fat loss without weight loss can generate cardiometabolic benefits.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
