The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC] have published recommendations for dental sealant use in school-based dental sealant or school-based HP/DP programs. These recommendations are based on the deliberations of an expert work group asked to examine available evidence regarding the effectiveness of sealants on sound and carious pit and fissure surfaces, selected sealant placement techniques, and the potential for development of caries in sealed teeth among children who might not be available for follow-up.
