INDIAN HEALTH SERVICE CIRCULAR NO. 18-06

"NOTICE TO RESCIND INDIAN HEALTH SERVICE DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY ADMINISTRATIVE # 3, AUTHORITY TO SIGN APPLICATIONS TO PURCHASE TAX- FREE AND SPECIALLY DENTURED ALCOHOL AND APPOINT ACCREDITED OFFICIALS TO ORDER CONTROLLED DRUGS FROM THE DRUG ENFORCEMENT ADMINISTRATION, DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE"

This notice rescinds Indian Health Service (IHS) Delegation of Authority (DOA), Administrative #3, "Authority to Sign Applications to Purchase Tax-free and Specially Denatured Alcohol and Appoint Accredited Officials to Order Controlled Drugs from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Justice." This DOA is 12 years old and very out dated. The Pharmacy program does not use Denatured Alcohol like they once did. The Code of Federal Regulations Chapter 3, of Title 48, has been updated to require these purchases to go through the standard acquisition process making this DOA obsolete.

Please discard your binder copies and any file copies of DOA, Administrative #3, "Authority to Sign Applications to Purchase Tax-free and Specially Denatured Alcohol and Appoint Accredited Officials to Order Controlled Drugs from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Justice," at your earliest convenience.
