This notice rescinds Indian Health Service (IHS) Circular No. 76-02, “Smallpox Vaccination Hospital and Field Health Personnel,” Indian Health Manual (IHM) dated March 26, 1976. This IHS-wide circular is no longer relevant given the global eradication of naturally occurring smallpox virus disease many decades ago and that smallpox vaccine is no longer available to the general public.
Please discard your copies and any file copies of the IHS Circular No. 76-02 “Smallpox Vaccination Hospital and Field Health Personnel,” IHM at your earliest convenience.
