BACKGROUND
Public Law 90-174, Section 223 PHS Act (42 U.S.C.217b) provides for the use of volunteer workers in PHS Hospitals and health centers. Part 1, Chapter 6, Program Administration, of the Indian Health Manual is being amended to include the policy and procedures governing the use of volunteer workers in Indian Health Service hospitals and health centers.
This also necessitated a change regarding the purpose of the chapter. This change is shown by vertical lines in the margin on page 1.
