The purpose of the Quality Symposium face-to-face meeting is to bring together subject matter experts from multiple clinical and administrative disciplines throughout the Indian Health Service to discuss, collaborate and build healthy working relationships to advance the mission of improving the health of American Indians and Alaska Natives. Best practices will be shared, common challenges will be discussed, and solutions will be developed. The symposium will define the elements of a Learning Organization while using the Indian Health Service System Map to analyze IHS strategic objectives. Tools will be introduced to identify and prioritize processes and services which require additional capacity or need to be designed or redesigned to attain the objectives. During the breakout sessions, sustaining quality improvements, sterilization best practices, learning organization tools, system-based approaches, building improvement capability will be shared.
