Summary: | We are looking for an experienced and motivated Physical Therapist to be part of in-house physical therapy program at Yellowhawk Tribal Health Center. The ideal candidate is a compassionate healer who is committed to helping their patients recover their independence and mobility. We are looking for someone with experience working with a wide range of patient injuries and age groups, who is always ready to learn new techniques to further patient care. The person hired for the Physical Therapist position would create a plan of treatment consisting of the appropriate exercises, procedures and techniques required to promote effective, safe recovery. They will also be coordinating with any healthcare professionals that are working with their patients and referring patients to specialists when appropriate. The right candidate is a patient, compassionate professional who encourages and inspires their patients to work toward greater independence and recovery. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the Yellowhawk Mission and Vision statements. |
Duties: | Review physician's referral and patient's medical records to help determine purpose of visit and if physical therapy is indicated. Perform patient evaluations using appropriate standardized and non-standardized tests based on patient's presentation and implements physical therapy treatment programs for both routine and complex patients Restores patient's function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities through physical therapy interventions. Helps patient accomplish treatment plan by administering manual exercises, giving massages, and using equipment as necessary to help relieve pain, increase the patient's strength and decrease or prevent deformity and crippling. Evaluates the use and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing, noting, and observing patient's progress; and recommending adjustments and modifications to achieve maximum benefit. Provide educational information about physical therapy injury prevention, ergonomics and ways to promote health. Provides quality care by assessing and interpreting test results during evaluations, progress notes and discharge. Instructs patients in proper in-home exercises and therapies. Plan, prepare and carry out individual designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients. Evaluates and records patient's progress, modifying treatment plans, and trying new treatments as indicated. Discharge patient from physical therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate follow-up care or referrals. Documents patient care services provided including completion of progress reports and discharge summaries in timely manner as per Yellowhawk policy. Educates patients and their families about the recovery process and the challenges they will face. Strong management skills in order to allow adequate time for patient care, administrative tasks, documentation and patient care conferences. Direct group rehabilitation activities. Works with Yellowhawk providers to promote the overall health and wellness of the patients we serve. Other duties as assigned. |
Qualifications: | Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education – accredited physical therapist education program and at least two (2) years of successful experience as a Physical Therapist OR: Master's degree in Physical Therapy AND five (5) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. Current Physical Therapy License – unrestricted, active and in good standing. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with AED. Demonstrated experience administering a wide range of physical therapy techniques not limited to: massage, mobilization, manipulation, and strengthening exercise; hot and cold therapy; ultrasound, traction, laser therapy and electrical stimulation. Completed Oregon Pain Management Commission – Pain Management Course Demonstrated experience assisting and directing treatments given by aides, technicians, and assistants. Knowledge of responsible use of facility equipment, best practices for equipment use and preventative maintenance procedures. Experience with recommending assistive equipment to patients and follow-up programs. Experience with a wide range of patient age groups and injuries. Knowledge of other therapy discipline and advance clinician specializations, an understanding of when referral can benefit patients. A strong sense of empathy, a compassionate outlook on PT and the ability to motivate patients into pushing their limits in a responsible, safe way. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to supervisory personnel, employees, patients and the general public. Proven record of matching patient needs to treatment plans and proven record of implementing these plans safely and effectively. Excellent knowledge of computer operations including electronic health records, electronic mail, word processing and database (i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must possess a valid state driver's license and meet and maintain insurance requirements to operate General Services Administration vehicles. Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Preferred Qualifications: Doctor of Physical Therapy degree preferred. Experience working in a Tribal healthcare system. American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) member. Advanced knowledge on conservative pain approaches and chronic pain management. |
