Summary: The Kewa Pueblo Health Corporation (KPHC) is established for the purposes of carrying out the vision and mission of the Santo Domingo Health Center (SDHC). The incumbent serves as the health center dentist and provides dental services at the Kewa Pueblo Health Center by assisting in implementation and operation of the dental program which includes preventive, educational, and corrective dental services. The incumbent also performs a full range of professional dental duties in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental disease or dental health programs.
Duties: Provides comprehensive dental care including patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Performs examinations, reviews medical and dental histories, evaluates oral health conditions, and interprets radiographs to identify disease and abnormalities. Documents findings and develops individualized treatment plans, educating patients to support informed decisions and promote preventive care. Delivers a broad range of dental services across specialties, managing routine and complex cases, including patients with behavioral or communication challenges. Provides preventive services and personalized oral hygiene instruction, emphasizing disease prevention and the link between oral and overall health. Maintains patient recall systems to ensure continuity of care and follow-up. May provide emergency care after hours and on weekends. Collaborates with healthcare teams, participates in meetings, and contributes to program improvements. Provides education and training to patients, staff, and community groups on oral health. Ensures accurate documentation and compliance with reporting standards. Offers guidance and oversight to dental assistants and clinic staff, supporting efficient clinic operations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Education & Experience: DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school with a current U.S. dental license. Requires two (2) years of clinical experience or completion of a two-year residency program. Current BLS certification required. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in public health, Indian Health Services (IHS), Tribal, or underserved settings preferred. Strong critical thinking, adaptability, and bilingual skills (English/Keres) are a plus. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Advanced knowledge of dental diagnosis, treatment, and intra-oral procedures, including management of complex cases and diverse patient needs. Strong understanding of oral anatomy, dental materials, and the relationship between oral and systemic health. Ability to provide preventive care, patient education, and utilize community health resources. Maintains accurate documentation and demonstrates proficiency with health records and data systems.
