Tséhootsooí Medical Center (TMC) is located in Fort Defiance, AZ, 30 minutes northwest of Gallup, NM and 175 miles west of Albuquerque, NM. In response to community needs and support of leaders in the health care field led to a feasibility and sustainability study. Therein the establishment of TMC as a P.L. 93-638 affiliate in 2010. TMC's satellite clinic located in Sanders, AZ moved to its newest location and became Nahat'á Dziil Health Center, January 2016. Our newest endeavor is a 47,000 square foot Wellness Center located on the New Mexico campus of the AZ/NM state line and scheduled to open FALL/WINTER 2017. Health on the Navajo Reservation has a unique personal interpretation; the optimal level of wellness is distinctive to each patient. Whenever resources are sought for the pursuit of the desired level of wellness, TMC is a source of advocacy, guidance and care. Staff Physician (Nocturnist) opportunity in Northeastern Arizona. Tséhootsooí Medical Center is the primary hospital for Fort Defiance Indian Hospital Board's healthcare delivery system. Accredited by CMS, TMC provides general outpatient and inpatient healthcare to 16 surrounding communities. TMC also provides same-day surgery, a diagnostic center, a growing network of primary care, ancillary services, Nahat'á Dziil Health Center and a Wellness Center opening Fall/Winter 2017. |
| Duties: | Serves as the Staff Physician [Nocturnist] Fort Defiance Indian Hospital Board, Inc. [FDIHB] which involves performance of diagnostic, preventive and/or therapeutic services to hospitalized patients at FDIHB. Will also serve in the Emergency Department as the need arises. Provides all necessary primary care services to patients at FDIHB who have been admitted for inpatient services. Provides consultations for requesting physicians and services on a timely basis Provides additional physician coverage. Ensures proper injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatments and recovery. Ensures referred and assigned patients are properly and efficiently admitted and receive appropriate and responsive medical care according to their condition, symptoms, diagnosis. Completes effective and timely verbal communication with the patients primary physician at various stages during the process, such as admission, care conferences with families, change in patient condition and upon discharge. Documents patient diagnosis, treatment, orders and clinical progress properly and correctly in order to allow for proper and correct billing. Advises hospital and assists with the implementation of approved evidence-based best practices, protocols and pathways to result in improved quality of care. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job to ensure appropriate maintenance of all privacy related issues. Performs all other related duties as requested to meet departmental needs. Strictly works a 75 hour week night shifts from 5PM – 8AM Sunday through Thursday night. Provides phone coverage for the outpatient primary care clinic between the hours of 5PM – 8AM Sunday through Thursday night. Assists in the Emergency Department as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. |
| Qualifications: | EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION: Completion of an accredited Medical School Program. Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program. Active, unrestricted Medical License from any U.S. State or Territory. Current, valid, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency [DEA] License. Board Eligible or Certification by an approved American Board of Internal Medicine or American Specialty Board. Demonstrates a broad knowledge of inpatient medicine with proven clinical skills and experiences. Demonstrates excellent written and communication skills. Proven ability to work effectively with clinicians and/or specialty consults. Ability to analyze and interpret medical information and formulate diagnosis. Must exhibit cultural sensitivity. Excellent interpersonal skills in handling interactions with hospital staff, other agencies, groups, and patients/ families. Meets the criteria for Credentialing Privileging of FDIHB Medical Staff Membership of the FDIHB Medical Staff Bylaws. A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers. SALARY IS DEPENDENT ON EXPERIENCE. |
