The Great Circle Recovery clinic is an extension of theTribal Health And Wellness program located in Grand Ronde Oregon. This project will be the first Tribally owned Opioid Treatment Program in the state of Oregon. We have been working to develop this site for over nine months. We are also working on developing a site in the Portland metro area which will begin after this program becomes operational. Our target opening date is the end of January 2021. Under direction of the Executive Director, the OTP Medical Director is the lead clinician in charge of clinical care provided at the opioid treatment program. The OTP Medical Director develops, implements and evaluates the clinical practice delivery model in accordance with the goals of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and shares in administrative functions that directly impact clinical services. As a licensed provider, the OTP Medical Director will also provide direct patient services in addition to their administrative duties, and is responsible for approving all admissions for medication-assisted treatment (e.g. methadone, suboxone, vivitrol, or alcohol treatment services). Works closely with the medical staff to ensure safe medication dispensing, adherence to physician order sets, and accuracy of patient assessment. Contributes to accomplishment of the Tribe's holistic health and wellness objectives for patients and families. |
Duties: | 1. Responsible for approving all patient admissions into the opioid treatment program. 2. Provides direct patient care services and timely completes appropriate documentation. 3. Writes orders for all patient medication dosing; reviews and approves all change orders to dosing. 4. Reviews patient lab results and prioritizes patients for internal care coordinator to follow up on for referral to primary care or a same day provider. Responsible for coordinating with care coordinator to refer high risk patients for immediate follow up care. 5. Coordinates care with patient's primary care and other resource providers to ensure continuity and safe prescribing practices. 6. Responsible for offering COVID-19 vaccination to patients upon entry into the OTP. 7. Ensures that all documentation is updated as required by Oregon Administrative rules within an OTP setting. 8. Collaborates with treatment team to ensure highest patient standards of care are achieved. 9. Collaborates with organizational leadership to review clinical policies and procedures; and approves clinical policies and procedures for OTP sites. 10. Collaborates with leadership team to identify and implement operations that support coordination between all treatment processes of the OTP clinics. 11. Promotes communication between medical and biopsychical model within the clinic setting. 12. Provides leadership and guidance over the same day medical program located on the OTP campus. 13. Participates and provides input to clinical wellness programs as determined by administrative team. 14. Provides public health education beyond patient visits which includes speaking at community events and writing for publications related to Opioid Overdose and addiction. 15. Meets or exceeds the minimum professional requirements for annual CME. 16. Reviews work of medical clinic staff as assigned by Clinic Manager and provides guidance to ensure patients are receiving the highest quality of care within the OTP setting. |
Qualifications: | 1. Requires an M.D. or D.O. degree, and an active, unrestricted Oregon Medical license. 2. Requires Board Certification or Board eligibility in family practice, internal medicine, anesthesia or psychiatry. 3. Three (3) years' experience in the use of medication assisted treatment for patients with addictive disorders including methadone, suboxone induction and management, and extended release naltrexone (vivitrol) induction and management is required. 4. Five (5) years' experience in the use of medication assisted treatment for patients with addictive disorders including methadone, suboxone induction and management, and extended release naltrexone (vivitrol) induction and management is preferred. 5. Requires current DATA 2000 waiver |
