Advance Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner)

Salary Range: $78,181 to $150,978 / Per Year

Summary: To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education: Must possess a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. Licensure: Applicants must be licensed or registered by a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position. Experience: The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. At the GS-9 and above, many positions may require experience in a specialty area of nursing. GS-9 - Basic Requirements: Your must possess a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and at least one (1) full year of professional nursing experience: Providing direct and comprehensive primary, preventative, and therapeutic medical and nursing care to patients related to the specialty for which you are applying. OR Master's degree in professional nursing. GS-11 - Basic Requirements: You must possess a diploma, associate degree, bachelor's degree or master's degree from a professional nursing educational program and at least one full year of professional nursing: Diagnosing or treating acute health care problems such as illnesses, infections, or injuries. OR Successfully completion of a PhD. or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field. GS-12 - Basic Requirements: In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements, applicants must have at least one (1) or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11): Analyzing and interpreting patient histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriates diagnoses. GS-13 - Basic Requirements: In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements, applicant must have at least one (1) or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12): Prescribing medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: Must possess an active Nurse Practitioner certification in Family or Psychiatric Mental Health that has been issued by an appropriate certifying body such as the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
