Under the administrative direction of the Chief of Optometry and Clinic Administrator, the purpose of the position is to coordinate Optometric services and examines, diagnoses, and treats ambulatory patients in an Optometric clinic environment.
Duties: Provide outpatient Optometry services of a general nature during clinic hours and after hours if needed for urgent care situations. Performs specialty functions in keeping with Optometric training / experience / and licensure. Provides referral services for necessary care beyond the capabilities of the facility and / or the practitioner. Orders and provides primary interpretation of laboratory studies. Records organized, legible entries in-patient record, including referrals and correspondence with outside physicians and Optometrists. Participates in the Clinic's overall quality assurance program as an Optometry subject matter expert. Organizes and conducts annual vision screening programs in the community.. Participate/Manage School Based Vision Program in local schools. Performs related duties as assigned by Chief of Optometry – examples include but not limited to creating department reports, work with grant funding agencies, etc.
Qualifications: MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE O.D. Degree to practice Optometry in the State of Wisconsin. Ability to be insurable for liability as an Optometrist. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to understand patient attitudes and needs. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Candidates shall be subject to a Caregiver background check. Candidates selected for hire will be subject to a drug test and employment will be contingent on results of said test.
