Congratulations to the Hopi Health Care Center, a BabyFriendly Hospital!

Hopi Health Care Center, a Baby-Friendly Hospital

In April, the Hopi Health Care Center in Arizona was designated as a Baby-Friendly Hospital. The Hopi Health Care Center is now the 8th IHS hospital to achieve this designation, and IHS plans to certify all 13 of its obstetric facilities by the end of 2014. Breastfed children have reduced rates of childhood obesity, diabetes, allergies, and asthma. Mothers who breastfeed lower their risk of diabetes, breast and ovarian cancer, and postpartum depression.
