Congratulations to the Crownpoint Health Care Facility!
In October, the Crownpoint Health Care Facility in New Mexico was designated as a Baby-Friendly Hospital. Crownpoint is now the 10th Indian Health Service hospital to achieve this designation. Breastfeeding initiation rates at Crownpoint continue to exceed the recommended guidelines and are often at 100 percent. Breastfed children have reduced rates of childhood obesity, diabetes, allergies, and asthma. Mothers who breastfeed lower their risk of diabetes, breast and ovarian cancer, and postpartum depression.
