50 Years of the Community Health Representatives Program

50 Years of the Community Health Representatives Program

The Community Health Representatives (CHR) program was established in 1968.  This year marks 50 years of the program.  CHRs are frontline public health workers who are trusted members of the community with a close understanding of community, language, and traditions.  CHRs are great advocates, in part, because they come from the communities they serve and have tribal cultural competence.  This month we will highlight the work of CHRs across Indian country.
