Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For American Indian and Alaska Native women, breast cancer is the second most common death from cancer. Breast cancer is the second most common cause of death from cancer among American Indian and Alaska Native women. The goal of breast cancer screening is to reduce deaths associated with breast cancer through early detection. Mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early and breast cancer treatment is more effective and less harmful when it is started in the early stages of the disease process.
