The Emergency Department at PIMC provides care for all emergency medical conditions, including stabilization and treatment. We also provide treatment for all urgent care needs.
Walk-In Policy
All patients are seen on a walk-in basis and will receive a Medical Screening Exam (MSE) to determine the appropriate level of care.
If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, dial 911 immediately. Do not attempt to drive yourself to the hospital.
Emergency Care at Non-IHS Hospitals
If you are seen at another emergency department that is NOT an IHS hospital, you, or someone acting on your behalf must notify Phoenix Indian Medical Center Purchased and Referred Care (PRC) within 72 hours to ensure that IHS will cover the costs. Elderly and disabled patients (65+) have 30 days to notify. This payment coverage is only available for Native Americans who are PRC eligible with the Phoenix Indian Medical Center.
For information on PRC or to report an emergency visit, please call the PIMC PRC department at 602-263-1569.
Where We Are Located
The Emergency Department is located on the North side of the hospital and parking can be accessed from both the 16th Street and Glenrosa campus entrances.
Patients can access the ED from either the main East entrance of the hospital, or directly through the ED entrance on the North side of the hospital. After hours, between 7am and 7pm, patients can only access the ED through the North entrance
