Area Office Privacy Officials

The Area Privacy Officials and the IHS Privacy Officer can be contacted by telephone or email. Keep in mind if email correspondence contains Personally Identifiable Information or Protected Health Information (PII/PHI), contact the Area Privacy Official or the IHS Privacy Officer first and a link to utilize the Secure Data Transfer System (SDTS) can be provided. This process is implemented to secure PHI/PII, as regular Outlook email is not secure. IHS staff are directed to delete all correspondence containing PHI/PII received in Outlook upon discovery of PHI/PII to protect out patient's privacy.
