Summary:

This course will be 16 hours in length and cover online resources and tools that support general dentists in the field. Particular emphasis will be placed on utilizing existing opportunities to take advantage of IHS specific online resources to improve and standardize endodontic care. Morning lectures followed by afternoon patient care for each day at each facility. Additional pre-requisites to be completed prior to course.

Topics to be covered:
-Review of endodontic diagnosis
-Discussion of rotary vs. hand file cleaning and shaping
-Pros and cons of warm vertical and cold lateral obturation
-Proper radiographic technique for endodontics
-Emergency treatment of traumatic dental injuries
-Overview of regenerative endodontics
-Hands on patient care applying principles learned
-Benefits and cost savings of online CDE and tele-consultation
-Mobile support opportunities


Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. Work through a decision tree to develop a pulpal and perapical diagnosis.
2. Determine best approach to clean and shape a variety of root canals.
3. Select proper obturation technique for given situation.
4. Control radiographic angle to allow proper view of roots.
5. Access and use IHS Traumatic Dental Injuries web site.
6. List advancements in regenerative endodontics.
7. Appreciate changes in our ability to offer CDE and tools and alternative methods of delivering them.

IHS Emergency Endodontics, IHS Endodontic Cleaning and Shaping, and IHS Endodontic Obturation
online courses to be completed and a passing score obtained before July 15, 2013.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
