The purpose of this 1 day course is to give IHS, Tribal, and Urban Dental Programs a better understanding of chemical dependency and updated infectious disease prevention in the dental clinical setting.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
1. Define addiction and explain the recovery process.
2. Utilize substance abuse knowledge to encourage and inspire Native American individuals and families.
3. Relate recent healthcare-associated infection investigations related to dental practices.
4. List general and dental specific infection control information and resources available.
5. Explain the basic concepts of blood borne pathogens and how they affect human health.
6. Discuss the OSHA blood borne pathogens regulation 1910.1030 and know why it is Important.
7. Evaluate a dental facility for hazards and determine methods for controlling those hazards.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
