DE0474: Diabetes Online CDE: Roles and Benefits of SGLT-2 Inhibitors and GLP-1 Agonists
Overall Course Summary
[brief description of the course; this will appear in the CDE catalog]: There are many non-insulin medications for the treatment of hyperglycemia available to patients with type 2 diabetes. Recent studies suggest the benefit of new agents beyond blood sugar reduction. This seminar provides information on the appropriate selection of medications, including an understanding of the mechanisms of action, effectiveness and side effects of treatment, and cost and convenience to our patients.
1. Distinguish mechanism of action and application among SGLT-2 and GLP-1 drugs in diabetes treatment.
2. Examine the benefits of SGLT-2 and GLP-1 drugs beyond glycemic control in improving overall patient outcomes.
3. Confidently select the appropriate SGLT-2 and GLP-1 drugs in managing patients with diabetes.

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
