Summary:

Today in America, addiction is a public health crisis. The opioid epidemic and substance use disorders more broadly have become one of the most common chronic illnesses in the U.S. In 2017, more than 130 people died daily from opioid-related drug overdoses. The misuse of and addiction to opioids—including prescription pain relievers, heroin, and synthetic opioids such as fentanyl—is a serious national crisis that affects public health as well as social and economic welfare. Medication-Assisted Treatment [MAT] is the use of medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. This one-hour webinar will focus on understanding the medications used for Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder and how to manage dental pain in patients on MAT.
