DE0387: California Area CDE Webinar: Tobacco, Vaping & Cannabis - Connect Your Patients with Help to Quit [Recorded Webinar]
This recorded webinar is available for California IHS and tribal staff only.
This session will raise awareness of the tribal clinic Tobacco Cessation data, strategies, and cessation support resources by providing tribal clinic case examples, dental clinic innovations for supporting cessation, and external partner resources. We will share interesting cases, stimulate ideas for improving the GPRA measure, promote cross-sector interaction, and provide educational learning points to support patients to quit tobacco products. This session will go over resources, documentation and provide an introduction to the CA Tobacco Quit Line.
1. Describe the basis for treating tobacco dependence, including potential oral and general health effects of tobacco, electronic cigarettes, and cannabis
2. Initiate brief clinical interventions for tobacco users who are willing to quit, and work with tobacco users who are not ready to make a quit attempt
3. Identify the role of the dental team in tobacco cessation and strategies to improve tobacco cessation treatment delivery systems in practice

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
