This presentation is designed to explore the beliefs and practices of health practioners working in AI/AN communities who were trainied as Health and Wellness Coaches. The group of health coaches included a wide variety of health professionals including nurses, dietitians, exercise therapists, physical therapists, community health representatives, dental hygienists, pharmacists, and nurse practitioners. This session will provide insight into how the group integrated their health coaching skills into their real-life practices, their perceptions on it’s effectiveness, and which skills they used most often.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Examine how health coaching skills and techniques can be adapted into various health care practices
2. Identify the barriers and strengths of health coaching
3. Implement effective health coaching skills into real-life situations

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
