Summary:

This presentation will inform participants on indigenous foods utilized at the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. There will be a discussion regarding the challenges of including traditional foods in the diet and strategies used to educate and gain participation from the community members in organizing their health priorities.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Identify various aspects of food consumption in the Salt River Community.
2. Examine the native traditions that reflect the creation of policies made to address the health needs of the Tribe.
3. Incorporate the native voice in program planning to address the health needs of the Community.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
