This motivational Interviewing presentation is designed for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in all practice settings. Through lecture and discussion, you'll explore the foundations of MI and how it can empower people with diabetes to improve their own health. In this one-hour presentation, you'll learn step by step how to refine your communication style to increase positive outcomes with your patients. Through lecture, analysis, and discussion, you'll learn to use a compassionate, curious effort to elicit your patient with diabetes own arguments for change.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Examine what motivational interviewing [MI] is and how it can help empower patients to make changes.
2. Identify the key concepts of patient-centered decision-making as it relates to improving healthy choices.
3. Implement MI tools and techniques to assist patients with behavior change.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
