Summary:

This clinical work-force development series will share evidence-based recommendations and clinical pearls on the treatment and management of pain, opioid use disorder [OUD], and safe opioid prescribing. Participants will increase knowledge surrounding integrated pain management modalities, identification of opioid use disorder, recommended level or care for substance use disorder, increase comfort-level with initiating buprenorphine for OUD, and be able to identify resources to assist with improving opioid related outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1.    Describe the pathophysiology of pain or substance abuse and create relevant treatment plans that utilize a variety of integrated management strategies
2.    Identify and implement patient assessment and screening tools to inform patient treatment plans and create useful patient monitoring strategies
3.    Improve the safety and outcomes of patients receiving ongoing chronic opioid therapy or substance use therapy

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
