2024 Catalog: All Courses

The presentation will focus on the contribution of the Diné
Community Advocacy Alliance [DCAA] regarding the Healthy
Diné Nation Act of 2014 and related food policies as it relates to
Indigenous data sovereignty with an unhealthy food tax and the
importance of innovation in tribal communities. Topics include
sustainability, strategies, and community engagement. DCAA is
recognized as the passage of several laws which include the
Elimination of Tax on Healthy Foods with an emphasis on
Indigenous foods, the Healthy Diné Nation Act of 2014, and a tax
revenue allocation for Community Wellness Projects for all 110
Navajo Chapters.

As a result of completing this training, participants will be able to:
1. Explore the history, outcomes, and progress of the
Healthy Diné Nation Act of 2014 and related initiatives
2. Examine the importance of partnerships and
collaborations influencing the accessibility and
consumption of healthier quality foods
3. Educate participants regarding Indigenous food
sovereignty as a vital role to healthy lifestyles essential to
diabetes management

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
