Through DEDP efforts, the Indian Health Service (IHS) has demonstrated longstanding partnership, support, and commitment to sustaining the network of Tribal Epidemiology Centers (TECs) since their inception. The TECs are Tribally managed public health organizations that serve AI/AN Tribal and Urban Indian communities by gathering, managing and analyzing public health information, investigating diseases of concern, developing and implementing disease prevention and control programs, responding to public health emergencies, and coordinating these activities with other public health partners.
