Under the guidance of clinical pharmacists, IHS pharmacy technicians play a vital role in supporting safe and effective medication use. Their responsibilities may include:

  • Gathering medication histories to assist with reconciliation
  • Educating patients on formulary options and coverage
  • Recording medication adherence, allergies, and adverse reactions
  • Assisting patients with refills, renewals, and pharmacy navigation

Pharmacy technicians also work closely with pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medications helping ensure every patient receives timely, high-quality pharmaceutical care.
