The Red Lake IHS Hospital is a multi-disciplinary 23-bed institution located in the rural northern woods region of Minnesota. The city of Bemidji is located approximately 30 miles south of Red Lake. The Red Lake IHS Hospital is the only facility able to provide care within a 30-mile radius. Services include: a same-day Urgent Care clinic Inpatient and Outpatient medical services Emergency Room physical and occupational therapy audiology mental health care dietary planning & education and urgent and routine dental care primarily for the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians. An 11-chair dental clinic was completed in 2010. There are many excellent hiking, biking, snow-mobiling, and cross-county trails in the area. Red Lake is only 2 hours away from the Boundary Waters Canoeing Area, some of the best and most pristine canoeing in the country. There are many excellent fishing lakes in the area and wildlife is abundant. White tail deer for the hunters as well as black bear. Bald eagles are plentiful in the area and are often seen around many area lakes.
