Description:
Thank you for your interest in participating in demonstrations of Electronic Health Record (EHR) products competing for adoption by the Indian Health Service. On this site, you will learn more about the planned product demonstrations and how you can participate as an Advisor.
Here are the ground rules for serving as an Advisor for the EHR product demonstrations:
- Product demonstration events may only be attended by current employees of IHS, tribal, or urban Indian organization (I/T/U) healthcare facilities. Anyone who does not have a verifiable I/T/U affiliation and email address will not qualify as an Advisor nor receive a link to the demonstrations.
- Advisors should be current users of health information technology. Although the scenarios will be clinical, the focus of the demonstrations will be on usability, so anyone who uses health IT in their daily work should be able to provide their impressions.
- Advisors must attest to having no potential conflicts of interest with health IT product vendors or system integrators who could possibly be a bidder or a partner in the IHS modernization acquisition. Examples could include, but not be limited to, employees of these companies, individuals whose spouse or immediate family member is such an employee, or individuals with a significant financial interest in these companies.
- Advisors will also be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement covering their participation in the demonstration events.
- Advisors must agree to view and provide input on all vendor demonstrations for the scenarios they have selected. The number of proposals is unknown at present, but the time commitment could range from four (4) to twenty (20) hours total over a period of several weeks beginning in late January 2023. Enough notice will be provided to enable participants to schedule their calendars accordingly.
- Because of this time commitment, Advisors should seek approval by their chain of command to participate in these demonstrations.
Details:
REGISTRATION CLOSED JANUARY 12th, 2023: The Request for Proposals inviting offers from Health IT vendors for products to replace the Resource and Patient Management System requires the vendors to submit video recordings of specific clinical scenarios, so that our users can get a sense of how their products look and work. The focus of these demonstrations is usability. Advisors who participate in the demonstration sessions will be asked to complete evaluations, indicating their impressions of how each step of the demonstrations appears from a usability standpoint – i.e., does this product appear to be intuitive, easy to learn, easy to use, and support the work that you and your colleagues do.
It would be impossible to ask vendors to demonstrate every function and process supported by their products, so the demonstration scenarios focus on five typical use cases at IHS, Tribal, and Urban facilities:
- Scenario 1 – Complicated Outpatient. Demonstration of an ambulatory visit for a complicated outpatient from beginning to end.
- Scenario 2 – Uncomplicated Admission. Follow a patient through a brief hospitalization that begins in the Emergency Department and includes a period of Observation.
- Scenario 3 – Prenatal Care. Demonstrate those features of the proposed solution that are specific to the delivery of prenatal care services.
- Scenario 4 – Well Child Care. Demonstrate those features of the proposed solution that are specific to the delivery of well child care services.
- Scenario 5 – Population Health. Demonstrate five use cases where a general user can query the system for specific population information.
