World Autism Day Interagency Roundtable
In observance of World Autism Awareness Day on April 2, IHS will host the second annual World Autism Day Interagency Roundtable . The event will be streamed online via Adobe Connect from 1:00-3:30 PM EDT. Professionals from Autism Speaks and other federal agencies will join IHS to discuss the work being done to address the needs of those with autism spectrum disorder and share important resources to provide each person with autism an opportunity to achieve the highest possible quality of life.
Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental disability that can cause significant social, communication, and behavioral challenges. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1 in 59 children has ASD, and boys are significantly more likely to develop ASD than girls.
