Description:
The 2015 Certified Health Information Technology (CHIT) is now certified for the 2015 Edition Cures Update. This effort requires an update to Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other applications in order to adhere to criteria established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC). By utilizing this upgraded software, sites will meet the certification requirements of CMS and ONC and meet the criteria established by CMS to participate in their incentive programs. This comprehensive course provides Clinical Informaticists with an overview of the changes that impact users concerning selected applications within the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS) EHR. The goal of this training is to equip Clinical Informaticists with the knowledge and tools for successful implementation.

This Hospital Pharmacist Informatics course will focus on the optimization of Health Information Technology and infrastructure that connects flow of critical information to and from each stakeholder in a patient's care within the Hospital Setting. HIMSS (Health Information and Management Systems Society)defines Pharmacy Informatics as "the scientific field that focuses on medication-related data and knowledge within the continuum of healthcare systems." Pharmacy Informatics enhances clinical decisions, pharmaceutical treatments, and facilitates a systematic approach to evaluating outcomes and making data-driven decisions in real time. ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists) has identified a list of Health Information Technologies (HIT) used in the practice of pharmacy informatics: (a) Automated Dispensing Cabinets, (b) Bedside Bar Coding, (c) Computerized Pharmacy Order Entry, (d) Electronic Medication Administration Records, and (e) Smart Pumps. Two-hour sessions will be offered June 8th, June 15th, June 22nd, June 29th, July 13th, July 20th, July 27th, & August 3rd. .
