DE0640: Diabetes Online CDE: Treating Common Infections in Patients with Diabetes
Infectious diseases are more frequent and/or serious in patients with diabetes. Pneumonia, urinary tract infection and soft tissue infections are special challenges. This session will provide an overview of some of the more common infectious diseases seen in patients with diabetes, along with discussion of prevention, monitoring and treatment for the diseases. The presentation will also include discussion of COVID-19 and diabetes.
1. Describe specific recommendations for preventing common infections in people with diabetes.
2. Incorporate into practice treatment therapies for common infectious diseases including pneumonia, diabetic foot infections and urinary tract infection.
3. Educate patients with diabetes about preventing infections.
4. Identify one change you can make in your clinical or public health practice.

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
