Through a collaboration between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Exit Disclaimer: You Are Leaving www.ihs.gov  and IHS, a population-specific STD Surveillance report emphasizing American Indian and Alaska Natives (AI/ANs) was developed in an effort to improve awareness of health disparities among AI/AN while striving to increase funding, resources, and community-based participatory research to benefit Native communities.

The Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) monitors priority health risk behaviors and the prevalence of chronic health conditions among youth and young adults. The YRBSS is a national school-based survey conducted by the CDC in partnership with states, Tribes, and territories. State-level, national, and some Tribal-specific AI/AN data are available.
