Electronic Newsletters

Electronic newsletters were emailed to people in Patient Registration, Business Offices, or Finance Offices. The newsletters were designed to introduce the key topics necessary for electronic transactions. If you are new to the material, you should read them in order; if you're looking for a specific answer or a refresher, you can jump to the topic that interests you.

PowerPoint Presentations

PowerPoint Presentations were developed for use by both trainers and trainees as training aids. The topics are the same as the electronic newsletters, but the presentations include much more detailed information as well as instructor notes. You can run the PowerPoint files from this website, or you can download copies of the files for use at a later time. After downloading the files, feel free to tailor them to your own particular training needs. If you do not have MS PowerPoint installed, you will need to download the MS PowerPoint Plug-in from the menu on the left.

Quick Reference Guides

Two Quick Reference Guides (pdf) serve as companion resource manuals to the PowerPoint presentations and gather key practical information according to the transaction. "Working with the 837 Transaction" [PDF - 1.1 MB] supplements presentations 2, 3 and 4. "Working with the 835 Remittance Advice" [PDF - 1 MB] supplements presentation 5. Print the document you need, and refer to it at your convenience. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, you will need to download it from the IHS Plug-in menu on the left.

Electronic Transactions CD-ROM

Electronic Transactions CD-ROM combines text, audio narration, and video in an interactive menu-driven format. The CD-ROM can be used by both trainers and trainees to learn all about electronic transactions. The PowerPoint presentations and the Quick Reference Guides are also included on the CD-ROM so you can have access to all of the materials at any time.
