Data Marts

NPIRS provides functional or customized reporting marts that support various information domains. The following identifies a few of the data marts that are within the NPIRS environment. 

The “Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative” (BFHI) is a global program launched in 1991 by the United National Children’s Fund and the World Health Organization to implement practices that protect, promote and support infant breastfeeding. This initiative is a quality improvement activity that will increase breastfeeding rates through improved maternal support for starting and continuing breastfeeding. The BFHI mart includes a Web-based Data Collection Tool and Monthly Data Tally Sheet Report.

The CHN/PHN Data Mart includes a number of "core" CHN/PHN reports defined by CHN/PHN staff.

The CHR Data Mart provides access to core CHR reports for all sites exporting data to the National Data Warehouse and includes the ability for senior CHR leadership and program staff to access the most critical performance data for the program.

The National Data Warehouse (NDW) Data Quality Mart is a collection of easily accessible web-based reports, which provide the user a quantified picture of problems with their data, as well as enough detail to allow record level identification of problematic data.

The Behavioral Health Data Mart and Reporting System provides national, regional, service unit and facility level reporting related to many health issues.

The Notifiable Disease and External Cause of Injury (NDECI) Data Mart and Reporting System tracks data for five specific categories:  Asthma, Injury, Intestinal Disease, Notifiable Disease and Vectorborne Disease.

The Dental Data Mart utilizes data from the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS) Patient Care Component (PCC) exports, Contract Health Services (CHS) data received from the Fiscal Intermediary, data export from the CHS/MIS application and non-RPMS data provided through the "simplified" export file to provide the program with core dental reports as well as Early Childhood Caries (ECC) reports.

The National Data Warehouse (NDW) Export Tracking features were developed to provide suppliers of data to the NDW with a means to track the receipt and loading of their files.  The features include reports e-mailed to senders, access to the Export Tracking Website and web-based reports in the Export Tracking Mart.

The Eye Care Data Mart makes full use of data mapped and exported to the National Data Warehouse (NDW). For this "version 1" application, nine (9) major eye care categories have been defined: Amblyopic, Blindness, Cataracts, Diabetic Retinopathy, Eye Glasses Dispensing, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Refractive encounters and Total Eye Care related encounters.

The General Data Mart contains current registration, encounter, user population, look-up tables and basic metadata from the National Data Warehouse (NDW), including information about the export files. A snapshot of the Legacy system registration and encounter tables is also available.

The IDCS is a centralized performance data mart that produces secure, on-demand web-based reports at the service unit, Area and national levels. This data mart enhances IHS’s current system of reporting national clinical measure results as required by the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) and the GPRA Modernization Act (GPRAMA).

The NIRS web-based application is designed to collect quarterly immunization data from each participating IHS facility. Data entered through this system are used to develop Area and National level immunization reports for specific vaccination groups.

The purpose of the version 1 Pharmacy Workload Data Reporting System (PWDRS) application is to provide the Office of Clinical and Preventive Services (OCPS) Pharmacy program the ability to generate national or regionally aggregated data for all Pharmacy related services and basic drug prescription information.

The Quality Data Mart supports the agencies Quality Framework developed to strengthen the organizational capacity to improve IHS’ ability to meet and maintain accreditation of IHS direct service facilities, align service delivery processes to improve the patient experience, ensure patient safety and improve processes and strengthen communications for early identification of risks.  Additionally, the Quality Data Mart additionally supports the mission of the Indian Health Service to raise the physical, mental, social, and spiritual health of American Indians and Alaska Native (AI/AN) to the highest level.

This tool is meant to ensure that our resources, such as training and RPMS IT enhancement, are focused on needed areas and includes the following tools and reports; Self-Assessment Tool, Corrective Action Plan, All Answers for Active Facilities, CAP Acceptance Report, CAP Status Report, Completion Status Report for Active Facilities, Completion Status Report with Details and ICD-10 Completion Status for Active Facilities.

The Urban Data Mart provides a functional reporting environment for Urban Indian Organization (UIO) national reporting.  This information supports national Budget Formulation and Uniform Data Systems reporting and provides insight into mission critical reporting for Urban program management and oversight. 

The User Population/Workload Mart is the section of the National Data Warehouse Reporting website(available to registered users) that contains workload and user population information specific to each of the twelve IHS Administrative Areas. This information is organized into a file structure consisting of a single folder for Headquarters, an additional folder for each of the twelve Areas, and User Documentation.
