Summary:

This is a special webinar available to all staff.

Back in 2016, a study confirmed that infection from human papillomavirus [HPV] 16 precedes development of some head and neck cancers [see https://www.cancer.gov/news-events/cancer-currents-blog/2016/hpv-head-and-neck-cancer].

The Indian Health Service Division of Oral Health [DOH], in partnership with the IHS Division of Epidemiology and Disease Prevention, conducted a survey over the past month to further understand the knowledge, attitudes and practices around human papillomavirus [HPV] prevention among oral health professionals at IHS/Tribal/Urban service units.

This webinar will provide information on the results of that survey, a discussion of oral cancer and oral cancer screenings by dental providers, and information about the HPV vaccination series and how dental providers can engage patients and parents in a discussion about HPV vaccination.
