DE0421: Diabetes Online CDE: FDA Update on the Nutrition Facts Label and Education Campaign
In 2016, the FDA announced the updated Nutrition Facts label for packaged foods to reflect updated scientific information, including the link between diet and chronic diseases such as obesity and heart disease. This presentation will update diabetes educators in clinical and community settings on the major changes to the Nutrition Facts label, provide information on FDA’s education campaign on the new label, and provide information about resources available to diabetes educators on using the label to assist consumers in making informed dietary choices.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Teach patients about using the Nutrition Facts label.
2. Promote the use of the Nutrition Facts label to support healthier eating choices.
3. Identify one change you can make in your clinical or public health practice.

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
