Summary:

Access to oral health care is found to be inadequate for pregnant women. Within the two series courses, evidence-based oral health practice guidelines for the dental professional and the negative impact that poor oral health has on pregnancy outcomes, and the Partnership for Integrating Oral Health Care into Primary Care project outcomes through risk assessments and screenings, preventive interventions and education, referrals for oral health care, and when possible, case management services will be presented.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1.   Discuss collaborative approach of oral healthcare professionals and pregnant women.
2.   Describe radiographic and oral health care practice guidelines for pregnant patients.
3.   Identify practical information on how to integrate oral health care into prenatal care.

Prerequisites:

Participants should be dental staff from IHS, tribal, and urban programs in the Oklahoma City and Bemidji Areas.

Tuition Policy:

Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
