DE0664: Diabetes Online CDE: The Social Determinant of Health: How the Context in Which We Live Impacts Health
This session will provide an overview of what the social determinants of health are and how they affect the AI/AN tribal areas. We will discuss the frameworks that encompass the social determinants of health and examine their relationship between the disparities in the SDOH and diabetes.
1. Provide patients with education regarding changes and updates in recommended adult immunizations.
2. Discuss specific immunization recommendations for people with diabetes, and their importance to overall health.
3. Describe the national and local immunization trends among AI/AN patients with diabetes.
4. Utilize strategies to develop policies and practices that could be used to improve vaccination uptake and coverage.
It is the policy of the Indian Health Service, Division of Oral Health, that faculty/planners disclose any financial or other relationships with commercial companies whose products may be discussed in the educational activity. Tuition must be paid in full 8 weeks prior to the start date of any course. Request for refunds must be received in writing at least two weeks before the course begins. For each refund request, there will be an administrative charge of $100. No refunds will be made to registrants who fail to attend a course. If IHS CDE program cancels a course, then 100% of the tuition will be refunded.
